Ahmad Chalabi procession attacked

Security developments have increasing in Iraq. The last one was the attack launched in Ltefeh area in southern Baghdad against a procession for the member of parliament Ahmad Chalabi and resulted in killing one of his guards and injuring other three.

A source a the Iraqi defense ministry said that three of the attackers were killed in this operation and a fourth was arrested after he had wounds in a fire exchange with the guards.

Police sources said that Chalabi was not in the procession. An armed group calling itself Imam al-Hussein groups claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on the internet.

In southern Baghdad, 7 Iraqis were killed and other 12 injured including three policemen in a booby trapped car explosion near an Iraqi police inspection point.

One Iraqi translator working for the American army was killed when he was leaving his house in Karkouk, northeast of the capital. Another Iraqi was killed when gunmen opened fire at a group of cooks while leaving a military base in Baqouba which also witnessed the detention of what is called al-Sunni supporters group Majid Muhammad Hamid and 14 of its members, according to a source in the police.

Earlier, the US army announced in a statement that 11 gunmen were killed during violent confrontations with the Marines forces near Haditha northwest of Iraq. It admitted in another statement the killing of five of its soldiers and wounding of two in two separate attacks south Baghdad on Sunday.

In another development, one armed group calling itself "TelAfer Mujahidoun" claimed responsibility for an attack on what it called an American tank in TelAfer in north Iraq.
