Lebanese supporting prisoners committee
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 7/30/2005
The Follow-up Committee for Support of Lebanese Prisoners in Israeli jails underlined on Friday the necessity of putting on trial all those who committed massacres and perpetrated torture against the Lebanese that escaped to Israel to avoid punishment.
The committee, in a statement, voiced astonishment over demands of some persons for pardoning the "agents whose hands were stained with blood of captives, detainees and children and committed bloody massacres against the Lebanese in the South, Bekaa and Beirut."
The committee rejected the return of those who perpetrated torture in al-Khyam detention and the Israeli investigation centers, calling for trial of those as war criminals if they were allowed to return.
"Some states and foreign embassies asked for names of some of those who perpetrated torture in order not to be granted asylum," the statement emphasized.
