Scores killed in explosions in Iraq

Scores of Iraqis were killed in a series of attacks and explosions that took place in various parts of the country during the past 24 hours.
In the last series of explosions which shook several Iraqi cities, one Iraqi was killed on Friday and other 11 injured in a blast targeting an American convoy in Musil in north Iraq. Witnesses said that one booby trapped car went off when the American convoy run by it.
This attack came hours after the killing of 25 Iraqis and injuring of other 35 in a suicide attack against a center for recruitment to the Iraqi army, in Rabea town to the north west of Musil.
Al-Jihad al-Qaida organization in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack. It said in a statement on the Internet that one of its members carried out the attack by blowing up his explosive belt among a crowd of volunteers queuing at the courtyard of the center.
In Baghdad, three Iraqis were killed and other 117 injured in a booby trapped car explosion in al-Azameyah quarters. In another attack Sheikh Faisal al-Khaz'ali, the leader of the Shiite al-Khaz'aleyah tribe was killed while moving in his car in al-Alam quarters, southwest of Baghdad.
Earlier in the day, the American army announced that seven of its soldiers were killed during the past 72 hours during traffic accidents and other five in various attacks in which two were killed in an attack launched on Thursday at buildings west of Haditha city on the Syrian borders where nine gunmen were killed five of them are Syrians.
