17 Iraqis killed in Baghdad

Some 17 persons were killed and others injured when gunmen opened fire at two civilian buses in an outskirt of the west area of Baghdad.

A source in the hospital in Baghdad said the hospital received 17 bodies for persons killed in the attack which targeted employees working in a company for potable water filtering near Abu Ghreib, 30 km west Baghdad. But the police said that only 12 persons were killed. Medical sources reported that 20 persons were injured.

Witnesses said that the employees were in a bus on their way to their houses when two cars boarded by 20 gunmen opened fire at the bus.

Another source expected that al-Fares company, for which the employees work, have links to the American forces.

In Baqpuba city, unidentified gunmen killed Saad Younis al-Defa', who is close to the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader, as he was getting out of his car. One officer in the Iraqi police was killed in Musil as unidentified persons opened fire at his car.

Police sources in Baghdad said that gunmen opened fire at a car in the "new Baghdad area," and this resulted in killing the three passengers of the car, who are employees at the ministry of health.
