Turkey al-Faisal wants intensified search for Bin Laden
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 7/26/2005
The new Saudi Arabian ambassador to the USA, Prince Turkey al-Faisal, called for the deployment of more forces and weapons in the search operation for the leader of al-Qaida movement, Osama Bin Laden.
Prince Turkey said in an interview with CNN "we know that Bin Laden is in an area where it is very difficult to chase him, and therefore there is a need for more assets, people and ammunition."
On whether Washington lacked the desire to intensify search efforts for Osama Bin Laden, he said "I can not believe that because as you know, President Bush vowed to arrest Bin Laden and I do think that all of us want to see that taking place." Thanks to his former post as a director for the Saudi foreign intelligence, Prince Turkey contacted Bin Laden, during the period when the USA and Saudi Arabia were supporting the Arab Mujahideen who were fighting the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan.
After that, the attempts of Prince Turkey failed to convince the rulers of Afghanistan at the time, the Taliban's movement, to bring back Osama Bin Laden to Saudi Arabia. This, according to diplomats, made Prince Turkey leave his post only ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks against the USA.
