Nine Iraqis killed yesterday

Nine Iraqis were killed in two suicide attack carried out by booby trapped car that targeted inspection points for the Iraqi police in the downtown of Baghdad yesterday.

The Iraqi ministry of interior said that the first attack took place at dawn when one ( Kia type) small bus filled with explosives went off at an inspection point in front of al-Sadeer hotel. This resulted in killing 6 Iraqis and injuring other 16.

One hour later, a second booby trapped car went off led by a bomber in a vehicle for the ministry of interior, and this resulted in killing two and injuring other seven. A source in the Iraqi ministry of interior said that the explosion took place on Monday morning under al-Hareteyah bridge, west Baghdad.

Some 39 persons were killed and scores injured in a suicide attack that targeted a Iraqi police center, east of Baghdad. It was the most violent since a week.

The blast was carried out by a truck loaded with 220 kg of explosives at al-Rashaad police center. The Iraqi ministry of interior talked in the beginning about 29 persons being killed and other 30 injured, and the destruction of several cars and shops.
