A minister of state for foreign affairs in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 7/25/2005

The Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz issued a royal decree appointing a minister of state for foreign affairs.

The Saudi official news agency said that Prince Abdullah Ein Nizar Bin Obeid al-Madani, who had the post of the assistant for the foreign minister, was appointed in this post for the first time since the Saudi foreign minister Saud al-Faisal assumed the post of the foreign ministry three decades ago.

Months earlier, diplomats said that the Saudi government might create a new post in the foreign department to help its foreign minister Prince al-Faisal.

This appointment comes in the course of changes in the foreign policy of the kingdom, especially with the appointment of Prince Turkey al-Faisal, who is Prince Saud's brother, as an ambassador for his country in the USA in succession for Prince Bander Bin Sultan who resigned from his post.

Officials indicated that Prince Saud al-Faisal ( 63 year old) had a fracture in his shoulder after he fell at his house.

Worthy mentioning that the Saudi crown prince ( 82 year old) is running the affairs of the Kingdom since 1995, following the illness of the Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz ( 84 year old).
