40 killed, others injured in Iraq explosions

The American army announced on Sunday quoting sources in the Iraqi security that the suicide attack which targeted the police center to the east of Baghdad resulted in killing at least 40 Iraqis and injuring others.

A statement by the US army said that a truck booby trapped by 220 kilogram of explosives went off near the gate of the center. This is the same scenario which the Iraqi police talked about, estimating the killed persons at 22, including police men and civilians, as well as 25 wounded and the destruction of several cars and shops.

An officer in the Iraqi police said that the bomber who was driving the truck intended to break into the center but for a certain reason the explosives exploded, 20 meter from it.
