Today marks the 53rd anniversary of July Revolution "led by the immortal leader Jamal Abdul Nasser, who devoted his life to supporting Arab and African issues and contributed with founding fathers like Nkrumah, Lomumba, and Sekatouri in founding the Organization of African Unity, which thanks to the will of the African leaders has been transformed into the great African union, to keep abreast with the era of big spaces which started to prevail in the world," The official Libyan news agency JANA said.

The report said "Abdul Nasser supported liberation movements, promoted development in the continent, and made bridges of cooperation between the Arab home land and the African continent.

"Ever since, it broke out, great al-Fateh revolution constituted a strong extension to the 23 of July revolution, and through its Jamahiriya treatises managed to develop the movement of popular struggle, and be a strong tide for the goals advocated by 23 of July revolution, and became the advocate for realizing unity as way for triumph, liberation and progress.

"Great and consistent efforts have been made for its realization, being the historic response to meet the challenges, which culminated by scoring an historic achievement for the African continent, the establishment of the great African Union, according to Sert declaration, issued by the extraordinary African summit on 9.9.99.

"Great al-Fateh Revolution is continuing its efforts for the establishment of the Arab African space which could embody Arab and African aspirations, and make them a force to be reckoned with in this era in which only big spaces are recognized."
