UK, France call on Israel to stop wall of separation construction

The Palestinian representative at the UN, Sumaya al-Barghouti, accused the Israeli government of using the international efforts, to make the Israeli withdrawal a success, to change the reality on the ground and to impose illegal defacto situation, noting that this attempt aims at foiling the foundation of "a viable and independent Palestinian state, based on the 1967 borders.

While the British representative, whose country assumes the current presidency for the European Union, called on Israel to stop the building of the wall especially around east Jerusalem because it contradicts international agreements- the same call advocated by France. Washington's representative at the UN called for fighting terrorism and considered that the biggest challenge is to ensure security until the date of the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
