Algerian envoy kidnapped in Baghdad, 15 Iraqis killed

News reports confirmed on Thursday that one Algerian envoy was kidnapped with his escort on Thursday in Baghdad.

This coincided with the killing of 15 Iraqis in a series of attacks and new explosions in various areas, according to security and military sources.

Five Iraqi soldiers were killed and other ten injured including one female child when one suicide bomber broke by his booby trapped car into an inspection point for the Iraqi army in al-Mahmodeyah, southern Baghdad. Another suicide bomber broke by a booby trapped car into a second inspection point in al-Bueitha area to the south of Baghdad and one Iraqi soldier was killed as a result.

The third attack was carried out also by a booby trapped car and resulted in killing one Iraqi soldier and injuring other 8 from ministry of the interior members when one suicide bomber broke into one inspection point in Hour Rajab area in the south of Baghdad.

In the west of the capital Baghdad, gunmen killed three members in the municipal council of al-Qadeseyah governorate while heading to one of the Internet cafes in the al-Khadra quarters. In al-Sader city south of the capital Baghdad, one employee in the ministry of commerce was killed as going to work by fire of unidentified persons.

A complex for British security companies in al-Yarmouk area west Baghdad was blown up by bombs and resulted in the killing of one Iraqi guard and injuring two other persons.

In al-Ltefeih in the south of Baghdad, one bomb place on the roadside targeted one Iraqi convoy and resulted in killing three soldiers and injuring other three.

Meantime, the Muslim Scholars Commission said that the forces of the Iraqi ministry of the Interior detained Sheikh Ahmad Qasem al-Najjar, member of the commission and Imam and preacher of al-Haq mosque in al-Shaab quarters, east Baghdad. The commission said that the force broke into the house of the Sheikh and damaged its content and confiscated two rifles from his personal guards.
