Ahmadinejad: Nuclear states have not right to deprive others of civilian use of nuclear energy
Iran, Politics, 7/21/2005

Iran's President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today that the nuclear states have not the right to deprive developing nations of civilian application of nuclear energy.

A report by IRNA quoted him saying "The developing nations are entitled to use nuclear energy for civilian utility in line with international conventions...The world will not accept double standard from nuclear states."

Ahmadinejad "reaffirmed Iranian commitment to annihilation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)" and said that his government will never accept "denial of the right of Iranian nation to enjoy nuclear energy for civilian purposes enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) be violated."

Yesterday, some US Senators spoke about the irony of the US calling on others not to use nuclear technology and weapons when the US is working to create new and more advanced nuclear weapons.
