Egyptian-Chinese committee to boost cooperation in transport and tourism
Egypt-China, Economics, 7/21/2005

It was decided to form a supreme Egyptian-Chinese committee to boost strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of transport and sea transport.

The committee was held in line with directives of the Presidents of the two countries. The committee comprises key officials from the ministries of transport of both countries, Minister of transport Isam Sharaf said.

The committee will follow up cooperation between the two countries in the field of sea and river transport, the minister said, adding that it will also consider the best ways to face the growing rise in the volume of international trade.

Also, "Egypt and China are to run direct flights between their capitals Cairo and Beijing," Egyptian Minister of Tourism Ahmed El- Maghrabi said on Wednesday.

Speaking to Xinhua News Agency, Maghrabi said that the scheduled airline runs would help a flow of more Chinese tourists into Egypt, known worldwide for its varied attractions of ancient monuments and unique sceneries.

The two sides would sign a bilateral tourist cooperation agreement, amid hopes that Egypt would get more than one million Chinese tourists in future.

Maghrabi struck a note of optimism saying: I believe that China should lead the list of tourist-exporting countries to Egypt.
