Increasing business awareness of computer networks security risks
Regional-Syria, Economics, 7/21/2005

The first Information Security Conference on Wednesday called for spreading awareness on a national level to users of information security.

Researchers and experts participating in the conference recommended at the final meeting bringing technically qualified local cadres in the field of information security to deal with information security threats.

The Conference also called on every information institution to adopt a specified security policy according to its requirements and fight threats such as viruses and netword breaking-in and spying.

About 350 Syrian, Arab and foreign researchers and experts in the field of information and communication took part in the conference where they delivered lectures on security gaps in information technology, and proposed solutions to protect information.

Meanwhile, the second Arab Olympiad of Informatics, held by the Syrian Computer Society and the Arab League, concluded activities at al-Assad Library in Damascus.

Speeches delivered at a final session referred to the importance of the Olympiad in narrowing the digital gap in the Arab states and developing Arab youth skills in programming and preparing for the International Olympiad for Informatics. The Syrian team came first at the Olympiad, the second place went to United Arab Emirates and Iraq came third.
