Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 7/20/2005
In conclusion of his meeting with the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Tuesday, the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa said "all problems between Syria and Lebanon should be contained, quickly."
Moussa said that the meeting dealt with the situation in Syria and Lebanon and the relations between the two states, noting that there are contacts between President Mubarak and his Syrian peer Bashar al-Assad and "this contact will continue to remove any negative implications."
Moussa added that "after the formation of the new Lebanese government there will be an opportunity for a Syrian- Lebanese understanding." Moussa said " Syrian- Lebanese relations should be built on political understanding and preserving the two countries's common interests." "What is our concern is to contain these problems quickly," Mousa concluded.
