Egyptian mediation, a meeting for Palestinian groups in Gaza today

The higher committee for Palestinian groups hold a meeting today to complete dialogue in order to contain the tension that recently erupted between the Palestinian authority and the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas).

The meeting is also due to discuss the issue of forming a national committee to supervise the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the north of the West Bank which Hamas movement persists to form.

This came while the Egyptian security delegation chaired by the deputy intelligence chief Lt. gen. Mustafa al-Buheiri continues his meeting with officials in the Palestinian authority and the Palestinian groups in order to dismantle the crisis between the authority and Hamas.

In their meetings with the Egyptian delegation on Monday, most of the Palestinian forces stressed the need of joint coordination in order to withstand challenges and work to enhance the Palestinian internal front.

The Egyptian delegation met also on Monday a delegation representing the Islamic Jihad Movement which mediated at the beginning of the crisis between Hamas and the Palestinian authority. It also met with the Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qurei', who stressed the commitment of the Palestinian authority to Cairo's understandings that was previously agreed to with the Palestinian groups.
