Series of booby trapped explosions in Iraq

A renewed series of booby trapped cars on Sunday took place as 22 Iraqis were killed and others were injured in suicide attacks south Baghdad, while the number of victims of al-Musayyab explosion increased to 100 and scores of injured.

Three Iraqis were killed, including two policemen, and other 13 injured in a booby trapped car explosion by a suicide bomber near a convoy on the highway in the new Baghdad area.

One hour after the attack, a second booby trapped car took place by a suicide bomber when a convoy was running in al-Sedeyah area. This resulted in killing three members of the convoy and injuring other four civilians.

The third attack targeted a headquarters for the higher commission for organizing the elections in Camp Sarah quarters and resulted in killing 6 Iraqis, including one policeman, and injuring other two.

In other various attacks, sources in the Iraqi army said that 6 Iraqis were killed in the north of Baghdad in clashes between the American army and gunmen. Two Iraqi contractors dealing with the American army in Iraq were killed.

Meantime, the number of victims of the al-Musayyab explosion in the south of Baghdad increased to 98 Iraqis while scores were injured in the bloodiest day since the new Iraqi government assumed mission in April this year.
