Israel-Palestine, Military, 7/16/2005
Israeli helicopters today early morning bombarded several sites in Gaza city, Khan Younis, hours following similar attacks that resulted in killing 6 activists of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas.
Security sources and eye witnesses said that the Israeli helicopters fired at least two missiles at a smith workshop in al-Qarrara area to the south of Khan Younis, and this resulted in injuring two children. The sources added that US-made Apache helicopters fired two missiles at workshop in the downtown of Gaza and the workshop was destroyed as a result.
Israeli sources said the Israeli army works to concentrate land military forces to the north of Gaza in order to carry out land operations to the north of Gaza.
Israel, by its prime minister Ariel Sharon threatened to continue targeting Palestinian activists and take all measures against what it called Palestinian terrorist organizations, stressing that the order to implement this objective are "Have no limits."
The new Israeli raids against the Palestinians came hours after the killing of four members of Hamas movement in Gaza. They are Adel Henya, Asem Abu Raas, Amjad Arafat and Saber Abu Asi when the missile of one Israeli copter hit their car which the correspondent of al-Jazeera TV said was loaded of locally made missiles and bombs and this resulted in the car's total destruction.
In the West Bank, two Hamas activists were also injured and another was hit in a bombardment carried out by one Apachi plane after it traced them up to a deserted house in the eastern area of Salfeit town before it opened its heavy machine guns fire and later the Israeli army broke into the town and announced curfew in it.
Earlier Israeli copters raided several sites for Hamas in Gaza and a position for the Palestinian navy and this resulted in injuring one Palestinian.
Hamas vowed to revenge its dead saying that "Israel has opened the doors of hell against itself." While the movement's spokesman Sami Abu zahri said that the movement will abide by the truce, the chairman of its political bureau Khaled Mashaal said that the truce will be reconsidered.
The Palestinian minister of the interior Naser Yousef deplored what he called Israeli escalation considering that it will not help in calming down things. He added that "this escalation is deplored and we absolutely do not accept it."
