Khatami describes Hizbollah weapon as mere Lebanese safeguard
Lebanon-Iran, Military, 7/16/2005
Iranian President Mohammed Khatami criticized the UN 1559 resolution "which is seeking to disarm Hizbollah from its weapon." "There is a Lebanese consensus that Hizbollah's weapons are a pure national matter as long as Israel is still occupying a Lebanese land," Khatami said in an interview broadcast by al-Arabia TV Thursday.
He expressed astonishment regarding Israel's ability to throw away all UN resolutions while Lebanon has no right to reject any part of an UN resolution even when it damages its national interest.
