Al-Baath: Kovaiev: Syria is a stability factor in the region: Kovaiev
Syria-Russia, Politics, 7/15/2005

Member of the Political Bureau of All Russia Communists Party Alexander Kovaiev has called on the progressive and leftist powers in the Middle East "to confront the Israeli arrogance," asserting that "the American practices serve the Zionist schemes in the region."

In a statement to al-Baath daily on Thursday, Kovaiev said that achieving the just and comprehensive peace and ending the Israeli occupation of the Arab lands in Palestine, Golan based on the international resolutions are the only way to end the tension in the region.

He reitrated his party's support to Syria's legitimate right in restoring the occupied Golan and to President Bashar al-Assad's stances in defending the Arab rights.

He added "Syria was and still is one of the stability factors in the Middle East," asserting the necessity for developing bilateral relations with her in all fields.
