Sanyoura intends to form a government outside the parliament
Lebanon, Politics, 7/15/2005
The designate Lebanese prime minister Foaud Sanyoura yesterday said he intends to compose a government including ministers from outside the parliament, noting he prefers to form a harmonious government so as government's work will not be handicapped.
Sanyoura explained following his meeting with the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud that the government which he intends to form will be composed of 24 ministers representing various parliamentary blocs in the new parliament. In a statement after meeting the Lebanese President, al-Sanyoura added "there is an agreement to create a government from outside the parliament where its members do enjoy qualification and political knowledge."
This came after the announcement of the new government, due on Wednesday was postponed, because of differences over the rates of representation for the Christian leader Michael Aoun and the Shiite alliance which supports Syria.
Because of this difference, Aoun who presides over the Free National trend, announces suspension of the participation of its bloc in the new government, after Sanyoura on Tuesday submitted a list on his ministerial formation to President Lahoud.
The first proposed formation was composed of 24 ministers and got the approval of both the Hizbullah party and the Amal movement and got the consent of Aoun who leads a parliamentary bloc of 21 seats out of the 128 parliament seats.
