Three persons killed, 30 injured in explosion in north Tel Aviv

A strong explosion shook an Israeli shopping center in Nathania coastal city to the north of Tel Aviv, and resulted in killing two persons at least and injuring other 30. The Israeli radio said many of the injured are in critical health conditions.

Security sources explained that the explosion took place in Kanyoun Heshroun center and is suspected to be a result of an attack carried out by one Palestinian.

News reports in the West Bank said that the explosion yesterday resulted in killing three persons including the attacker. The reports added that the attacker detonated himself at the entrance of the center when it was crowded by the Israelis.

It indicated that number of casualties was great and ambulances hurried to the site of the explosion to evacuate the victims.

Prior to this operation a vague explosion took place in a car in Shafeh Shamroun Israeli settlement to the north of the West Bank. The sources explained the explosion resulted in injuring a car driver.

This came hours after three Israeli soldiers were injured, one of them is in a critical health condition, in an explosion to the south of Gaza, alleged by al-Aqsa group of the Fatah movement and the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

A spokesman for the Israeli army said that two soldiers were slightly injured in the explosion which attacked their vehicle while it was running near the fence surrounding the complex of Ghoushe Katif settlement to the north of Khan Younis to the south of the sector.

In another development, one official in the Palestinian ministry of the interior was attacked and beaten by gunmen and he was gravely injured as a result. In a statement, the ministry said the gunmen attacked Ibrahim Salameh by beating while he was heading for his office in Ramullah.

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the security forces will take immediate action to arrest the persons involved in this act and react to them firmly.
