Deteriorated health conditions of Radoun, Seif
Syria, Politics, 7/11/2005

The Arab human rights organization in Syria on Sunday demanded the Syrian authorities to transfer its chairman Muhammad Radoun, who was detained on May 22, to ha ospital "immediately in order to receive necessary medical care and treatment."

In a statement, the organization said that "lawyers of the defense commission for Muhammad Radoun visited him at the political security prison and were surprised of his health condition," stressing the need to admit him to hospital.

Meantime, the human rights activist Anwar al-Bunni said that the health condition of the two Syrian parliamentarians Mamoun al-Homsi and Riad Seif detained since 2001 are "deteriorating" and held the authorities responsible for their safety.

Al-Bunni indicated that Homsi "suffers high blood pressure and diabetes and other diseases of the digesting system, and that his health condition is deteriorating and he is observing a hunger strike." Al-Bunni said that "Riad Seif's life is in danger and that medical reports stressed he is in need of an open heart surgery."
