Shalom: Annan's condemnation of Hizbullah improved our relations with the UN
Israel-UN, Politics, 7/11/2005

The Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom on Sunday expressed his country's satisfaction over the "positive development " in the relations between Israel and the UN. This was expressed after the UN condemnation of the attack carried out by Hizbullah on the border.

Shalom said during his meeting with the UN special envoy for the Middle East Elvaro De Soto who is visiting Israel for the first time "I am happy with the positive development in the relations between Israel and the UN." In a statement, Shalom indicated that "this development can be seen in several examples like the call for an extraordinary session for the UN Security Council and Annan's condemnation of the attack carried out by Hizbullah party against our northern borders as well as appointing Israel's ambassador to the UN as a deputy chairman for the next session of the UN Genral Assembly.
