Jaafari vows to ensure security of diplomats in Iraq
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 7/11/2005

Concerning attacks which targeted several diplomatic missions in Iraq, the Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari stressed that his government will work to ensure full protection of embassies and diplomats recruited in Baghdad in coordination with the Iraqi ministry of the interior.

On measures taken by the government and the investigations to the kidnapping and killing of the Egyptian ambassador Eyhab al-Sharif, Jaafari said in a press conference held in Baghdad that his government called for opening an investigation to study the conditions and implications of this operation, noting that so far no final results were attained.

The Iraqi prime minister ruled out this incident will affect Iraqi-Egyptian relations. He indicated that despite conditions taking place in Iraq, certain countries are persistent to send diplomatic mission like Jordan, adding many other countries are about to send ambassadors to Baghdad.
