32 Iraqis killed in Baghdad, Musil, Karkouk

Iraqi cities of Baghdad, Musil and Karkouk witnessed bloody attacks on Sunday that resulted in killing at least 32 persons and scores were injured.
In one of the most violent among these attacks, some 25 persons were killed and other 47 injured when one person detonated himself wearing an explosive belt amid a crowd of men recruited in the Iraqi army.
The attack took place while crowds of volunteers gathered to hand over documents to join the Iraqi army, in a military center situated in al-Muthanna airport in the downtown of the capital. The place was the target of several earlier attacks.
In Musil to the north of Iraq, four members of the Iraqi police were killed and three injured in a booby trapped car explosion that targeted the procession of Col. Saleh Mashaal, director of Namoroud police area situated to the southern west of Musil. The police director survived the assassination attempt.
Three Iraqi civilians were killed and other ten injured in a booby trapped car explosion targeting the director of the oil rich Karkouk municipality to the north of Baghdad. The municipality director said he survived death by a miracle while the explosion caused heavy material losses in cars and neighboring buildings.
In other attacks, two gunmen were killed and a third was injured on Sunday morning in one explosion that they were trying to implant on the highway between Ghalebeyah town and Baqouba to the north east of Baghdad. The explosion coincided with the passing by of a procession for the Iraqi army in the same street.
Other five Iraqis were killed in attacks took place on Sunday morning and late Saturday evening. They are one colonel in the Iraqi police killed in Baghdad in addition to two police men and one Iraqi civilian killed in the capital. One security official was killed in Karkouk These field developments came, while the American forces continue their new military operation near Falujja city in al-Anbar governorate to the west of Iraq.
Some 500 American soldiers supported by 100 soldiers of the forces of the Iraqi interim government are taking part in this operation which is the fourth in less than one month. These forces witnessed raids targeting al- Zeidan village, 30 km to the south east of Falluja. Some 22 citizens from this city were arrested by the Americans.
