Four killed in attack in east Algeria
Algeria, Local, 7/9/2005

Four persons were killed including military men at the hands of armed Islamists near Teizi Azo city in Kbyle area to the east of Algiers.

Security sources said that the victims were killed on Wednesday and were slaughtered by an armed group composed of 30 members as they installed a fake roadblocks in one of the mountainous areas in the outskirts of Tezi Ozo.

For two hours the gunmen stole several cars which were running on that road and was a theatre for similar operations in recent years.

The security sources explained that some of the gunmen were wearing Afghan's costumes, while others were in military uniforms to deceive car drivers that it is a government security forces roadblock.

The gunmen fled in several cars towards the nearby forest from the site of the incident where shelters of "al-Salafeyah Group For Fighting And Call" exist.

Following that, the authorities blocked the said road in order to permit the security forces, supported by helicopters, to carry out a large scale mopping up operation.
