Syria's hero AbouZeid passes away after 20 years in Israeli prisons

Syrians in the occupied Golan declared yesterday the martyrdom of internee Haiel Hussein AbouZeid after spending 20 years in the Israeli prisons the matter which caused him a chronic disease to claim his life.
AbouZeid was born in 1968 in the village of Majdal Shams where he joined the national struggle since hius teenage years and participated in all protest shapes against the Israeli policy on Golan. That was before he affiliated with the national movement against the occupation during the period when Israel tried to impose the Israeli identity on the Syrian citizens of the Golan.
The Israeli forces captured late AbouZeid in the year 1985 when he was seventeen and whereas he reject all charges against him and stressed the illegitimacy of the Israeli court.
He spent 20 years in the Israeli jails until the Israeli authority set him free early this year under intensive pressures and demands from many human organizations like committee of internees and prisoners of the occupied Syrian Golan, human rights organizations and doctors with no borders.
His relative succeeded in seeing him again after 20 years in jail but they could not save him because his health had already deteriorated drastically, then died yesterday in his village where he is considered a martyr and a great hero for his mother homeland Syria.
Meantime, Secretary General of the Follow Up Committee of the Lebanese Detainees at Israeli Jails Mohammad Safa has held Israel responsible for the martyrdom of the liberated captive AbouZeid after spending 20 years in the Israeli prisons.
In a message sent to the detainee's family in the occupied Syrian Golan on Friday, Safa said "Israeli forces are responsible because they delayed his treatment," asserting that "they released him fearing that he will die in jail due to torture and the absence of health care along the 20 years of prison."
He also stressed that AbouZeid's martyrdom has indicted Israeli forces, criticizing the international community's carelessness towards this human issue.
