Lahoud meets Abbas, supports Palestinian issue

President Emil Lahoud of Lebanon underlined his country's support to the Palestinians' efforts to defend their just issue.

In a meeting with Chairman of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas on Friday, Lahoud pointed out that both sides agreed on consultations and meetings to achieve joint vision.

He also stressed that Abbas' visit to Lebanon confirms fraternal relations between the two peoples, asserting his country's Commitment to the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

In a meeting with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri, Abbas said " We discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories as well as the ongoing contacts on the completion of the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza Strip." Both sides also discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the region in addition to the state of the Palestinian refugees in the Lebanese camps.
