Syria-Saudi Arabia, Economics, 7/7/2005
International Chain Restaurants Company is to start investment in Syria next September with $ 10 millions within a wide plan to increase its investments in the Arab states.
"Series of fast food restaurants is scheduled to be launched first in Damascus and then in all Syrian governorates in line with a plan to expand the investments in Syria..The company will start investing in other tourist sites in Syria and will increase the volume of its investment to $ 100 million in the next years," Chairman of the Syrian-Saudi Business Council, Bassel Ghlayeni, said in a statement to al-Thawra newspaper published Wednesday.
He pointed out that the Saudi inventors are very interested in the Syrian tourist sector, since it has been witnessing a structuring and encouragement of foreign investors because Syria is considered as one of the most low-cost areas as far as cost, workforce, and real estate are concerned in comparison with its neighbouring states Lebanon and Egypt.
More than 35 companies and 100 foreign investors are currently visiting Syria to inspect investment opportunities, the available tourist opportunities and the possibility of exchanging expertise, particularly that 30 new tourist sites are being offered for investment in all Syrian provinces.
