Polisario imposes total blackout on situation in Tindouf, NGO
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 7/5/2005

President of "Al Michaal Assahraoui" Association, Sidati Dafa, said the Polisario Front imposes a total blackout on the situation in Tidouf camps (southwestern Algeria) to limit the impact of the current uprising.

"They opted for a total blackout on the situation in the camps," he said in an interview published Monday by Aujourd'hui le Maroc daily, noting that people are afraid to speak out about the incidents that have recently occurred in the camps in fear of retaliation.

Sidati Dafa recalled that in 1988, Algerian and Polisario armed forces have killed civilians in the camps, including women and children, during an uprising.

The Polisario Front, that lays claim to Morocco's southern provinces (the Sahara), is getting military, diplomatic and logistic support from Algeria.

According to "Al Michaal Assahraoui" president, the recent protest moves in the camps are led by young intellectuals who understood that the Polisario rhetoric is only lies and wrong promises and disagree with the rhetoric of the old Polisario leadership which is acting mafia-like, embezzling humanitarian aid.

"Those young people want a swift solution to this artificial conflict," he pointed out.

Sidati Dafa hoped the uprising in the camps would the "beginning of the end of the criminal band that leads the Polisario."

He also warned of Polisario's embezzlement of humanitarian aid destined to the populations in the camps, calling for guarantees to make sure the aid reaches the needy populations.
