Al-Duleimi calls Sunnis to take part in next vote
Iraq, Politics, 7/5/2005

More than 6 persons were killed in different attacks in Iraq including an explosion of a booby trapped car in al-Shuhada' quarters to the south of Falluja and resulted in killing or wounding several members of these forces, two civilians and destruction of two armored vehicles.

Eight persons were kidnapped in Baqouba working for an American base at a time the American army announced the detention of one Tunisian called Ashmad Amra and accused him of being responsible for bringing 100 suicide bomber into Iraq. The American forces also arrested 100 gunmen including Egyptians in a security operation to the west of the capital Baghdad.

However, the American army had not specified whether the operation called "al-Muthanna strike" is linked to the kidnapping of the Egyptian ambassador to Iraq Eyhab al-Sharif on Sunday. The kidnapping was not claimed by any side.

The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit extended from Sert, in Libya, the call for not mistreating his country's ambassador in Baghdad. His family also called for his release saying they did not receive any message from the kidnappers.

Meantime, the spokesman for the general congress of the Sunnis in Iraq and chairman of al-Waqf al-Sunni, Adnan al-Duleimi, called in the Sunni to organize their lines to take part in the next elections and start to register themselves in the offices of the elections committee.

Al-Duleimi said that "the Sunni are determined to take part despite reservations," adding that the Sunni men of religion will issue a Fatwa calling for participation in the election operation at a time when chairman of the constitution formulation committee Hamman Hamadi said that that it was agreed that 15 Sunni will join the branch committees as from tomorrow, Wednesday.
