Wanted Saudi hands over himself
Saudi Arabia, Local, 7/2/2005

The Saudi ministry of the interior said that one wanted person, out of the 36 most-wanted list of suspects in acts of violence in the country, surrendered himself in Lebanon, and arrived on Friday in Riyadh, to be the first who surrendered himself from the list.

A spokesman for the ministry said that Fayez Ibrahim Ayoub, 30 years old, returned back to the kingdom and went to the security sides to clarify the reality of his position, referring not to the country from which he came and the way he was brought back to the country. However, a local Saudi daily said on Thursday that he handed over himself to the Saudi embassy in Beirut. The ministry said in a statement quoted by the Saudi official news agency that the security sides will complete what it called "regular measures" concerning the Saudi citizen noting that his family will be able to meet with him.

Ayoub is one of the 21 Saudi Arabians outside the kingdom on the list of 26-most-wanted recently announced for those suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization.

The Saudi authorities announced a reward of seven million Saudi dinars (USD 1.87 million) for any person who helps to arrest one of the suspects or foils an attack.

Since May 2003, Saudi Arabia launched a campaign against those considered to be activists in al-Qaida organization following attacks against western and government's interests, and this resulted in killing scores from the two sides.
