An explosion in Beirut

One Lebanese woman was criticaly injured from a bomb explosion in her car at the southern entrance of the capital Beirut. The security forces hurried to the site of the explosion and started investigation.
Lebanese security forces said the explosion took place when one woman tried to get into the car parked in a car station for "Lebanon Beach" swimming club in Khaldeh area. The young woman, who had burns in the right side of her body, is called Abeer Muhammad Harb. One witness said that the woman is a journalist.
News reports in Beirut said that the explosive was small and did not cause large damage. Reports quoted security sources as saying that the explosive is not similar to previous explosions which took place in Beirut during the few past months.
Lebanon was recently exposed to a series of explosions following the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri in February this year..
The explosion came ten days after the assassination of the former secretary general of the Lebanese communist party George Hawi in June. He was the second man to be assassinated in Beirut in June. Journalist Samir Qassir was killed in June 2nd when a similar explosion destroyed his car in front of his house.
