Following Hizbullah - Israel confrontations, UN Security Council calls for fovernment to impose authority
Lebanon-UN, Politics, 7/1/2005
The UN Security Council has called on the Lebanese government to impose full sovereignty on its lands and remove what it called the militias. This was expressed following confrontations at the border Shebaa Farms between Hizbullah and Israel.
The chairman of the UN Security Council, the French Jan Mark De La Sablier, said that members of the UN Security Council will repeat their calls to the Lebanese government to impose authority, including its armed forces, and to confine the use of force only to it, and to stop all attacks launched from its own lands.
Members of the UN Security Council expressed "deep regret over the exchange of fire between the Hizbullah party and the Israeli forces," calling on all sides concerned to totally honor the so-called Blue Line and refrain from violating it, and for self control.
The main demands requested by the resolution is the dismantling of the militias and the call on the Lebanese government to impose its sovereignty on its lands as well as the withdrawal of the Syrian forces and its intelligence from Lebanon.
