Moroccan among wanted terrorism suspects in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia-Morocco, Local, 6/30/2005

Moroccan Younes Mohamed Ibrahim Hiyari appears in a list issued by Saudi authorities on 36 suspected terrorists believed to be linked to a series of terror attacks across the country.

The Interior Ministry said in a release published by the Saudi press agency SPA that 15 persons suspected of involvement in terrorist acts are inside Saudi Arabia, while 21 others are outside the country.

Younes Mohamed Ibrahim Hyari, 36, went to Saudi Arabia to perform pilgrimage five years ago and stayed in the country, noted the release, underlining that the suspect lives illegally with his wife and daughter in Riyadh where he was seen for the last time.

The 36 terrorism suspects also include 3 Chadians, one Kuwaiti, one Mauritanian and one Yemenite. (MAP)OB/

Morocco aware of hostile maneuvers against its territorial integrity, official

Rabat, June 29 (MAP)- Morocco is perfectly aware of hostile manoeuvres that aim to harm its territorial integrity, said Wednesday Moroccan minister of Communication, and Government spokesman, Nabil Benabdallah.

Speaking at a press briefing following the weekly cabinet meeting, Benabdallah said Morocco is aware of the existence of a structured plan destined to harm Morocco's territorial integrity and of "our enemy's persistence to interfere in our domestic affairs, which clearly contradicts its statements that this issue should be solved within the United Nations."

The Minister was referring to the Sahara conflict that opposes Morocco to the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, which claims the separation of Morocco's southern provinces (known as the Sahara). The former Spanish colony was retrieved by Morocco in 1975 under Madrid Accords signed with Spain and Mauritania.

The enemy of our territorial integrity, said Benabdellah, is "exercising pressure on some countries," pointing out that Morocco endeavors to foil these schemes and preserve the international tendency in this issue, particularly within the United Nations.

Commenting on Kenya's decision to recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), self-proclaimed by the Polisario, Benabdellah said Morocco's recalling its ambassador in Nairobi "is a first reaction to this unjustified and regrettable decision."

The Government spokesman recalled, on the other hand, that 30 African countries do not recognize the "SADR" and that they represent the majority in the continent.

The minister voiced need to carry on diplomatic and political efforts to "reinforce the domestic front to defend the national territorial integrity.
