Europe's and America's Moroccans mobilize for Sahara issue
Morocco-Regional, Politics, 6/30/2005

The Moroccan community living in Italy will stage, Thursday, a demonstration in Rome to denounce Algeria's stance against Morocco's territorial integrity, and call for the liberation of the Moroccans sequestered in the Polisario-controlled Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria.

The demonstration is meant to draw the attention of the Italian public opinion on the truth of the artificial conflict about the Moroccan Sahara, say organizers. In the United States, several Moroccan associations called for a sit-in to be staged, Friday, in front of the Algerian embassy in Washington to denounce Algeria's position and call for the liberation of the Moroccans sequestered in Tindouf.

"Al Kitab" socio-cultural association in Marbella, Spain, has called for Morocco's expatriates in la Costa del Sol (southern Spain) to take part in a rally to be organized, this Saturday, in Marbella to call for the liberation of the sequestered Moroccans.

The confederation of the Moroccans living in Italy, called, for its part, for a similar demonstration scheduled for Thursday in the Italian capital, Rome.

This past Sunday, a sit-in in Washington urged the international community to include the "Polisario" separatist movement among terrorist organizations.

Thousands of Moroccans demonstrated, last week, in Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt as well as Gibraltar to denounce Algeria's hostile stances and call for the liberations of Tindouf detainees.
