Syria vows to maintain best of relations with Iraq
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 6/30/2005

"Syria is looking for the best of relations with brotherly Iraq in all fields," Deputy Foreign Minister said Wednesday pointing out that Syria has expressed readiness for security cooperation with Iraq saying "Iraq's stability is part of Syria's and the region's stability as well."

"Syria has declared several times commitment to Iraq's independence and integrity as land and people as well as supported the political process there," Deputy FM Walied al-Mua'llem said in his speech before the Organization of the Islamic Conference Foreign Ministers Meeting in the Yemeni Capital of Sana'a.

Al-Mua'llem underlined that Syria participated in making the electoral process in Iraq a success, and expressed determination of diplomatic exchange with the Iraqi republic after 25 years of break of relations.

"Syria took the initiative to send a diplomatic and security mission to Baghdad to figure out what brethren's worries are," he added.
