Fahmi: Oil gas talks with Palestine
Egypt-Palestine, Economics, 6/29/2005
Egypt and Palestine held negotiations yesterday focusing on the ways of transporting gas and oil between the two states.
The Minister of Oil, Sameh Fahmi, met with the Palestinian Minister of Energy, Ezzam Shawwa, who asserted that the Palestinian Authority agrees on exporting gas to Israel from gas wells in Gaza or from the joint Israeli-Palestine gas well in the Mediterranean Sea.
Negotiations debated the idea of providing Palestine with water in return for gas given that 50 percent of the West Bank requirements come from the Israeli network, the Palestinian Minister added.
Fahmi stated that Egypt is eager to provide Palestine with assistance in the gas and oil industry.
