Court condemns persons involved in Laayoune incidents up to 20 years in jail

Laayoune Appellate court condemned, here Tuesday, three individuals involved in vandalism acts in the city of Laaoyune (South) to sentences up to 20 years in prison.

The incidents occurred in the southern Moroccan city last May when a group of people wanted to dissuade authorities from transferring an inmate, sentenced for drug smuggling and organization of illegal immigration, from the prison of Laayoune.

Hassan Hairach was sentenced to 20 years in prison for "constitution of a criminal gang to commit criminal acts, blocking public roads circulation, sabotage of public properties, violence against civil servants, arms use and participation in an armed riot."

For their part, Mohamed Salem Bouamoud and Daoudi Moulay Omar were sentenced to 15 years in prison for "constitution of a criminal gang, blocking public roads circulation, violence against civil servants, sabotage of public properties and participation in an armed riot.
