Saudi Arabia announces a new list of 36 wanted Islamists

Riyadh has announced a new list for Islamists wanted for links to what is called terrorism, including more than 36 wanted persons.

The list which was announced by the ministry of the interior includes 15 wanted inside Saudi Arabia, and other 21 outside it. Among the 38 wanted are seven foreigners from Chad, Mauritania, Yemen and Morocco.

The ministry statement said that the list comes in the course of disclosing plans of what it called "the misled group," according to important information from sides who have links at different levels to what has been taking place in the country since more than two years.

The statement announced giving a reward of seven million Saudi riyals ( USD 1.87 million) to those who contribute to arresting the wanted or foiling any attack.

Two years earlier, the Saudi authorities announced a list including 26 names of persons suspected to have links to al-Qaida organization. Only left on the list are two wanted: Saleh al-Oufi and Taleb al-Taleb while other members of the list were either killed or arrested.

The leader of al-Jihad, al-Qaida organization in Iraq led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi announced the death of Abdullah al-Roshoud one of the main wanted in the 26 member list, in the recent battles in al-Qaem.

Worthy mentioning that the wave of attacks took place in Saudi Arabia since May 2003 resulted in killing 244 persons including 112 suspects, 90 civilians and 42 members of the Saudi security.
