Mujahideen army downs US Apache plane
Iraq-USA, Military, 6/28/2005

The American army announced the killing of two of its pilots in the crash accident of their Apache helicopter in al-Shahida area to the north of Baghdad, adding that an investigation in underway to know the implications of the incident.

For its part, the Mujahideen army group claimed responsibility for downing the helicopter. It said in a statement on the Internet, not authenticated yet, that this operation is an evidence that they did not negotiate with the Americans or others to drop the weapons of resistance. This was a reaction to statements made by the US secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld in which he stressed that negotiations took place with members of the Iraqi resistance, backed by the USA.

News reports at the site of the copter's crash said that intensive fire was heard and a white smoke came out of the copter in which fire blazed in before it was downed.

In another incident, a statement by the US army said that one of its soldiers was injured on Monday in a fire fight in light weapons. The statement explained that the soldier died of his wounds while he was investigating in the issue of the burning of one car in Baghdad.
