Iran new president: Israel biggest threat to peace; will proceed with nuclear energy development
Iran-Israel, Politics, 6/27/2005
"Israel is the biggest threat to peace and security in the Middle East," Iran's President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday, adding that "it is the reason behind the unstable situation due to its brutal crimes and daily killings against Palestinians."
"Iran will adopt an effective foreign policy with all countries and boost bilateral fair relations in the social and political fields," President Ahmadinejad added during his first press conference a day after he was elected a president of Iran.
He underlined the importance of establishing strong ties with Islamic and Arab countries, calling for keeping the Gulf region as an area of peace and friendship.
On Iran's nuclear file, the Iranian President underlined his country's right to produce the nuclear energy for peaceful aims, referring to Iran's national need to this energy and for its use in various areas such as medical and scientific purposes.
