Suez Canal scores record revenues

Revenues of the Suez canal in Egypt during the past 11 months of the current fiscal year increased into more than $ 3 billion against $ 2.82 billion for the last fiscal year as a whole.

This recent revenues are considered a record high in its history since it was opened for navigation in 1869. Fiscal year in Egypt starts as from the first of July every year and ends by the end of June of the year to follow.

An official in the Suez Canal said that its revenues in May reached $ 282.4 million increasing from $ 281.5 million from the figures of the earlier month April and from $ 247.3 million in May, 2004.
