First attack on a convoy for the Japanese occupation forces
Iraq-Japan, Politics, 6/24/2005

The Japanese ministry of defense announced in Tokyo said that one military vehicle of the Japanese occupation contingent was slightly damaged on Thursday to the north of Iraq as a result of a bomb explosion that resulted in no casualties.

The bomb which was placed on one of the roadsides went off when a convoy of four vehicles were running by. The attack is the first of its kind which target a Japanese convoy in Iraq. However the Japanese camp in al-Samawah was attacked three time by missiles but no casualties were reported.

The spokesman for the Japanese government Heroky Husoda said "we want investigation over what had happened because the motive of the attack is not clear."

Japan has 600 soldiers deployed in al-Samawah. So far, they have not fired one bullet and none of them had been injured.
