Egyptian Muslim Brothers demonstrate for releasing political detainees
Egypt, Politics, 6/24/2005
In Cairo and in front of the headquarters of the Journalists Union, members of the banned Muslim Brothers group demonstrated demanding the release of political detainees, members of the vocational trade unions.
The protesters chanted slogans like "Oh Freedom, where are you.. state security forces are between us and you." Another banner read "we demand the release of Issam al-Aryan and his colleague of the opinion prisoners."
What was also remarkable was the absence of the security men especially the state security department from the site of the demonstration with the exception of three soldiers and one army officer.
