Germany grants order of merit to renowned syrian artist

Syrian world artist Marwan Qassab Bashi won the highest medal in Germany, the German Order of Merit, granted by Federal President Horst Kohler during an official ceremony in appreciation of his works and achievements in creativity and arts.
Bashi's work constitute a bridge among all civilizations. The Order is a great honor offered for the first time to an Arab artist. Artist Bashi lives in Berlin and has been painting for 50 years since he left Syria in 1957 after he studied the Arab Literature at Damascus University and got the grand prize in sculpture at the Spring Exhibition in Damascus.
