Lebanon enemies seek to destabilize situation, Lahoud
Lebanon, Politics, 6/23/2005

President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon on Wednesday said "the enemies of Lebanon seek to destabilize security and stability in the country."

Lahoud, during an interview with the French Satellite L.C.I. TV Channel, added that before the beginning of assassination series which Lebanon has been witnessing since last autumn, it had been ranked first in security and stability according to reports of the international Interpol Organization.

He wondered who is the beneficiary side of assassination acts which target Lebanese political figures, describing the assassinated former Secretary General of the Communist Party in Lebanon George Hawi as "a friend of Syria."

Lahoud stressed the "importance of the Lebanese national resistance to maintain its arms as Shebaa Farms is still under the Israeli occupation."
