Egypt-Israel, Politics, 6/20/2005
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit has demanded the opening the Gaza borders following the Israeli withdrawal from it.
A diplomatic source quoted Abu al-Gheit in meeting with his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom as having asked Israel to permit the opening of Gaza International Airport which was greatly damaged by Israel and to build a harbor in the city, to ensure the Palestinians cross between the sector and Gaza, and a Palestinian monitoring of the borders between Rafah and Egypt. He also urged Israel to implement the Roadmap.
Abu al- Gheit also met on Sunday evening with Sharon and discussed with him the withdrawal from Gaza and the Syrian- Israeli peace track.
