Al-Jihad, Abu al-Reesh claim responsibility for Gaza attack

Al-Quds group, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, and groups of Ahmad Abu al-Reesh, which is close to the Fatah movement, claimed in a joint statement the attack which targeted earlier in the day against one Israeli military position to the south of Gaza and resulted in killing one Palestinian and one Israeli and wounding two other Israelis.
The statement said that two members of the two groups were able to fire RPG (rocket propelled grenades) at an Israeli tank of Meirkava type and surprised one Israeli occupation soldier and broke into Israeli position at the border strip between Egypt and Gaza.
The statement indicated that the executor of the operation is a member of al-Quds groups, and was able to return back to its bases safely, while the other executor Lutfi Jihad Wadi was killed. He is a member of Abu al-Reesh group.
The statement said that this operation came in retaliation to continued operations in the Palestinian territories, the last of which was the detention of Sheikh Mahmoud Jadardat and his brother in the West Bank.
In an earlier field development, Anewar al-Atwai, the activist in the Islamic Jihad movement was killed in an attack carried out by al-Quds groups in collaboration with al-Aqsa martyrs groups of the Fatah movement at Kfar Daroum settlement to the south of Gaza.
The Israeli occupation army also launched a breaking in operation near Hebron city in the West Bank during which they arrested one activist from the Islamic Jihad movement on Sunday at dawn.
